Week -
Check it out. This is the 8th
week from seeds and young seedlings. It is hard to see the crops ready
for harvesting through the green foliage in the total hydroponic
vegetable garden photo. But, we have pixie and patio tomatoes (terminal
varieties that grow as bushes). We also have bountiful crops of egg
plant, cantaloupe, four varieties of lettuce, summer squash, zucchini,
cucumbers, pole beans, bell peppers, chili peppers, onions, beets,
radishes and turnips. The large tomatoes growing as a vine are big boy
tomatoes. All are exceedingly delicious, especially if you let them
ripen on the vine. You will not believe the flavor and texture.
All this is growing
in a 33 sq. ft. gravel culture hydroponic unit. It would take at least
250 sq. ft. of conventional soil garden and a lot more back-breaking
labor to match its production. It is a good example of truly effortless
vegetable gardening.
